Tuscola CUSD #301 News
I am writing this letter today to let you know there is an individual at TCHS that has tested positive. The Douglas County Health Department and TCHS will contact you if your child is considered a close contact. Please continue to monitor your child’s health and keep them home if they develop symptoms. If your child has had close contact with a known case of COVID-19, keep the child at home and notify your primary healthcare provider, Tuscola Community Unit School District 301, and the Douglas County Health Department.
This week the topic of a negative rapid test has been discussed. The school district was asked if a negative rapid test allowed an individual to enter the building. The guidelines have not allowed the health department to release individuals with a rapid negative test. Individuals are required a negative PCR to return to school. I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this fact.
On January 15, 1929, Martin Luther King was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. King would have an accomplished career as a Baptist Minister and Civil Rights Leader. In 1964, Dr. King won the Nobel Peace Prize for his strong leadership of the Civil Rights movement and commitment to achieving racial justice through nonviolent action. In honor of Dr. King, the third Monday in January has been declared a Federal Holiday. There is no school on Monday, January 18 to honor Dr. King.
Have a great day!
Sincerely,
Gary Alexander
