Scholarships:  

 

Lloyd and Selma Sweeney Scholarship: Seniors in Coles or Douglas County who are pursuing degrees in either Ag or Healthcare related fields are eligible for this new $5,000 scholarship. Applications are available in the Core and are due March 15th, 2020. 

 

Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women: Four scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded to four outstanding Catholic Senior Girls. Applications are available in the Core and are due March 30th, 2020.   

 

Illinois Society of Professional Engineers: The local Champaign chapter will be awarding scholarships to students living in Champaign, Vermillion, Edgar, Douglas, Coles, or southern Ford Counties and who plan to pursue an engineering degree. Applications are available in the Core and are due March 30th, 2020.

 

Christie Foundation Scholarship: The Christie Foundation is again offering health profession scholarships to graduating seniors from the area who plan to go into a health related field. Applications are available online at www.christie-foundation.org/scholarships and are due March 31st, 2020. 

 

TCHS Alumni Scholarship: This annual scholarship is for seniors graduating from Tuscola whose sibling, parent, or grandparent is also a graduate of TCHS. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 1st, 2020. In addition to this scholarship, another "Special" Alumni Scholarship of $500 will be presented to a 2020 senior this year who is going into a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) related field. These special applications are available in the Core and are due April 1st, 2020.

 

Tommy K. Martin Memorial Scholarship: This local scholarship is available to seniors who plan to go into a law enforcement/criminal justice related field. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 8th, 2020. 

 

Douglas R. McCumber Family Fund Scholarship: The Tuscola Community Foundation Douglas R. McCumber Family Fund Scholarship is available to Tuscola High School seniors who are ranked in the top 1/3 of their class, have high character, and possess Christian morals and values. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 8th, 2020.

 

Donald J. Lindley and Belle H. Lindley Scholarships: This scholarship is again being offered and is based on financial need and a 3.0 GPA. Applications are available in the CORE and are due April 15th, 2020.

 

Sarah Bush Lincoln Scholarships: The Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System Guild Scholarship Committee will be giving out 3 scholarships (Guild Scholarship, Dr. C.D. Swickard Scholarship, and Vasudeo Shripad Joag Scholarship) to students pursuing a career in a health related field. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 15th, 2020. 

 

Heritage Family Farms Ag Scholarship: Any high school senior from Arcola, ALAH, Tuscola or Villa Grove who plans to pursue an Ag field in college is eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 15th, 2020.

 

Georgine McDonald Trust Scholarship: This local scholarship is for Tuscola graduates who must have a 2.5 GPA and be entering the field of fine or liberal arts, medicine, law, or agriculture. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 17th, 2020.

 

Joint Local Scholarship Application: This is the one application that seniors at TCHS need to make sure they fill out!! The Joint Local App makes you eligible for 10-15 different local scholarships available each year. The scholarships all have different criteria, but this one app allows you to be considered. Applications are available in the Core and are due

 April 17th, 2020. 

 

Tuscola Kiwanis: Kiwanis is once again offering scholarships to graduating seniors of TCHS. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 17th, 2020.

 

Cletcher-Wessale Scholarship: This local scholarship is for Tuscola graduates who must be pursuing a college graduate school or medical school education in the area of medicine, including training as a physician, or within a related healthcare field. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 17th, 2020.

 

Douglas County Republican Women and Douglas County Central Committee- Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to two seniors living in Douglas County. All seniors are eligible to apply. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 19th, 2020. 

National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors: The NAIFA of East Central Illinois is offering four $500 scholarships called the Paul Brumaghim Memorial Scholarships. Applicants must be planning to major in Insurance, Finance, Business, or some other field related to the financial services. Applications are available in the core and are due April 30th, 2020.     

 

Tuscola Masonic Lodge: This local scholarship is available to seniors in the top 40% of class rank. Applications are available in the Core and are due May 1st, 2020. 

 

Insuring Rural Communities Scholarship: This renewable scholarship is awarded to residents of eligible rural communities in Missouri and Illinois. It is based on financial need and up to $5,000 per year. Applicants must be pursuing degrees in information technology, healthcare, or risk management. Applications can be found online at https://stlouisgraduates.academicworks.com/opportunities/3432 and are due May 15th, 2020.

 

Announcements  

 

The Juniorettes will be hosting a pill bottle drive starting this week.  The bottles will be sent to countries in need. A box will be located in the front hallway. If possible please remove labels from the bottles. Thanks for participating.

 

All study halls on TODAY will be held in their classrooms NOT the study hall room.

 

FCCLA will meet TODAY  Lunch and dessert will be provided.  The meeting will be in Dr. Franklin's room.

 

Sophomores and Juniors: See Mr. Bozarth if interested in attending or learning more about the Rotary Youth Leadership Award camp on April 17th-19th. There's no cost to attend and applications are due Tuesday, March 17th.  



 Friday, April 3rd. If you plan to take a date, their permission form and ticket money must be turned in by that date as well.

Tuscola FFA will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, March 12th from 8:30-3:00 in the Study Hall room. To donate, Sign-up with Miss. Cender or online at www.bloodcenter.org using group code 70304. Walk-ins are also welcome. You must be at least 16 years old with a parent consent form or older. There are forms in the office. You must be at least 110 lbs and have a photo ID with you. Please eat before donating and be in good health!

Congratulations to the Science Olympiad team consisting of Matthew Bennett, Braden Boyer, Alyssa Brazzell, Dustin Hale, Courtney Kramer, Marisa Poole, and Miranda Tschopp.  Over the weekend they competed in the Regional Science Olympiad competition and placed 3rd in Boomilever, 4th in Gravity Vehicle, 6th in Write It Do It, and 7th in Fossils.
